We hope that this platform provides a space to honor the work and passion of the youth in our school district. We hope that you may find it empowering to see their visions come to life through their lens they so graciously shared with us.
Students deserve their voice to be heard and we want to be a platform that shows them that their voices do indeed matter. |

THE BEGINNING
Oswego East Showcases For 5 years, students from Oswego East were participating in social justice showcases that later provided the model for this art exhibition we have today. The two teachers (Heather Stanich & Stephanie Krzeminski) that built the structure for those showcases opened the project up to involve the entire district and had the opportunity to collaborate with SD308 and the SCRC to create a platform that engages even more students! |
THE PRESENT
Launch of the District Wide Art Exhibition There were always big plans to begin making this project district wide, but due to the pandemic, plans were shifted and re-imagined to get us to the virtual platform you now see today! Students still have a voice in these times and we found it important to find a way to amplify them! We are proud of what we were able to accomplish in a short period of time, so we can't wait to see what engagement we will see in years to come. |
THE FUTURE
In-Person Community Involvement We hope that in years to come, we continue to develop a district-wide model. We will continue to invest getting younger students involved and showcasing to teachers and staff at each school how empowering this work can be for students. We also are likely to move back to an in-person showcase, with dreams of getting our community involved in some capacity! |
